Welcome to our new Site!

Over 25 years ago Alpha Base was started to provide advanced solutions to computerize many types of businesses.  Over that period of time we created the Metropolis Data Base Engine as well as many other advanced features (the 1st IM interface, character Mode Windowing, FLiP to name a few).

MET is still in wide use thru out the U.S., Canada and England  (providing for multiple languages was not easy back then) at all type of companies.

In the last several years, we have been hard at work to create a new front end to augment and replace the character mode (24x80) interface that has worked so well for our user base throughout the years.

In analyzing why so many companies have continued to use our solutions for so long, a number of key elements became apparent:

  • Well designed interface and program set that is easy to maintain
  • Extremely high productivity User Interface that makes the best use of the keyboard to speed data entry
  • Low cost of ownership
  • Continued upgrading of the base product offering by us and our VAR base.
  • Integration to the WEB and other key online facilities like Visa Net and EDI.

The one key upgrade that we have been looking to provide for over 10 years has been a replacement GUI interface.  This has been a challenge due to the high speed of our character mode interface and the slowness of PCs and GUIs years ago.  We have tried many solutions over the years and up till 3 years ago, none could fill the bill.   However, a little over 3 years ago we choose the Adobe Flex solution and began our development effort which has resulted in MET10 and METGUI.

We started this project to just be a new front end to our existing application base, but it became apparent that with the Flex tool set we could accomplish MUCH MORE.  What we have wound up with is our own tool set that is capable of what we call multi-modal client application building and processing.  Read the METGUI page for more details.

With the soon to be release METGUI product, we now have a new working Forum to assist developers in converting their existing apps to MET10 and METGUI as well as how to learn to use the new METGUI tools to create new applications that can access any DB!

We invite our VARs and End Users to join the forum.
